Well, we’re three days into November, Sockmonkey Neighbors!
How many houses have you visited on NaNoPierceCo Drive? (The par for Day 3 is 5001)
Don’t worry, though. November is just getting started. Whether you’ve got a huge word buffer because you’ve been typing like mad or you’re barely hitting daily par, if that, there are still plenty of days left to write. And words are words. Any words written are better than not having written (although we all have those days, too - no shame there). Just keep at it. And check in with us online or at one of our in person events for moral support or to ask for ideas, etc., because that’s what Sockmonkey Neighbors are for!
November 4th and 5th are Double Up Donation Weekend!
You may have already received a message from NaNoWriMo HQ about this, but in case you haven’t here is your reminder to take part in NaNo HQ’s biggest fundraiser of the year. They give away prizes and if you’re able to donate, say, $25, then you get the donor goodies that are usually only given to someone who donates $50. Please see their official event Google Doc for more information and to get involved.
The GWIC - A Discord Writing Marathon Event
This virtual event has already started, but you can join and leave during any virtual stop. Each region you visit is in a dedicated channel during a two hour time frame on their GWIC Discord server. For more information and to get lots of words written with other participants before it ends, go to the 2023 Global Write-In Crawl event post on the NaNoWriMo Forums.

Peninsula and South King Writers
While I do have one write-in scheduled in Gig Harbor later in November, I took a look at the West Sound Region’s event calendar since they’re also on the Peninsula. Visit this thread to see the links for those dates and times.
South King Writers may be interested in this post of Kent/Federal Way (CWI) Library writing events and/or this post looking to start a South King Co Writing group .
Hope to write with you in person or online soon! And remember…
“A writer is either compelled to write or not. If I waited for inspiration I wouldn’t really be a writer.” - Toni Morrison
It’s not always about feeling like writing, it’s more about just sitting down and getting some writing done.
