It's that time again, Sockmonkeys!

Time to get together to share snacks, to catch up and to spend some time working in a group setting on whatever project you're working on, that is.

As a reminder, in case you didn't see my previous posts, since we're no longer getting a large influx of new folks because of the now defunct NaNo site, and because it often seemed difficult for some to access, there are no longer any food or attendance sign up Google forms. Bringing a dish to share is not required; you're welcome to just come with your own beverage to sip while you work on your projects with other Sockmonkey writers in the same room. They will show you that even with a small group of people we often have more than enough food to share.)

****NOTE: If you do bring something homemade, please be sure to bring the recipe or an ingredients/allergen list so other attendees will know if it fits any potential dietary restrictions.****

Hello Sockmonkeys!

I'm playing catch-up again. Here is a quick mostly pictoral recap of our 2nd Quarter Potluck, which was held on April 11th, 2026 at the Graham Pierce County Library.

As is usually the case, though our group was small, we had plenty to eat! Please let this remind you that even if you cannot bring food, you are welcome to join us, because there is always more than enough to go around.

Thank you again to Jen for setting up the use of the room in advance with the librarians in Graham. It is often difficult to get space with the limited amount of lead time the library system allows, so it was nice to have this one all settled and not have to rush to get it reserved.

A few of our regulars weren't able to make it this time, which is understandable, but we had a great time, got a bit of work or planning done and also had time to catch up with each other. Even if you're not a regular, please know that you're welcome to join us at any of our future potlucks. It can be hard to build community online when everyone has their own preferred app they follow, so these potlucks are a way of attempting community building in person.

June Write Time Canceled

Hi Sockmonkeys!

Very quick note to let you know that Write Time is canceled this Sunday, June 21st, so that those who do are able to celebrate Father's Day. If you're on any of our socials, you've probably seen this already, but I wanted to post it here for those who see the blog first.

They'll be back at it in July!

1st Quarter Potluck Recap

Hello again, Sockmonkeys!

Another quarterly potluck has come and gone. Two of this session's attendees, Anna and Erin, drew a Sockmonkey and greeting on the white board to let people know who we were. It is pictured above.

Even with a small group, a decent amount of food is brought to share, so if you want to come but can't afford to bring anything, don't worry about that. Please attend so we can get to know you and grow our little gathering from the larger community of Sockmonkey writers. You can see the items from the first quarter potluck pictured above.

Many thanks, as well, to Jen for agreeing to set up and take down, as well as being the replacement contact person with the library since I ended up getting sick and being unable to attend. Thank you to her, also, for sharing these photos with me to post and for posting her recipe for the Red Pumpkin Coconut Curry Soup she brought to the potluck. 

We have a small group of semi-regular attendees and, once again, would love to meet more of you if you're able to attend a future potluck. There was a recent post about updates to the blog which included information about our Google Calendar, but you can get to the direct calendar link and that information on this page.
