Finding your way around the New NaNo Site Part 4
Well, I'm a bit late getting to this, but I'm guessing many folks have just jumped in and started writing without setting up their profiles (or it was ported over from the old site and they left it the way it was, which is fine). This is an amalgamation of my profile and a profile that has no real identifying information on it, just as an example.
In order to change the picture or edit any of the information shown, just look for the little pencil icon and click it. (For the background/header picture, you have to scroll over the picture and then click the pencil icon, similar to editing on some other social media sites.) Add pictures and fill this out however you choose, in order to share more about yourself and your writing with other NaNo Participants.
Things will look a bit different, because when you first sign in, you'll be on a welcome page, but, if you click on My NaNoWriMo at the top and then select profile, that will get you to your profile page so you can edit it and see what others see when they look at your page. Also, there are tabs across the top - one says Projects. This, and the Projects option in the pull down menu, allow you to set up your project for NaNoWriMo, Camp NaNo or any other time of the year. The Stats option will show you your writing statistics, including line and bar graphs, and some other fun information, if you click on that.
To update your word count and give it some statistics to populate, you click the little + at the top of the page (on any page). A little box like the one above will pop up and you can enter your word count, whether it's "total words" or "words this session" and a few other things, before you click Update Progress.
If you find you've made a mistake when entering your word count, the Progress Updates box lists your individual entries. You can now click the trash can to change the entry (although, I think it just deletes it and you have to re-enter a new one - I've only tried it once so far).
Now, they may not have screenshots/pictures up, but, to keep from restating more of what is already available (plus, they will keep it updated more frequently than I do), if you have questions about how to specifically change things on your profile, or your writing project, please visit the appropriate articles on the NaNoWriMo main site in their Knowledge Base area. Although, I am happy to help answer questions if you have any or to help you find the article or directions you need, especially if you're having technical difficulties accessing their site.
